Founded in 2012, we are a family-owned-and-operated microbrewery and brewpub that produces world-class lagers and ales. We brew, package, and test all of our beer on-site at our historic facility in Des Moines, IA. 

Job Responsibilities, including but not limited to:  

Quality Control Responsibilities  

  • Media and solution preparation  
  • Aseptic sample collection and sterile plating  
  • Microbe identification and selection  
  • Chemical handling and disposal  
  • Data entry and analysis 
  • Adherence to SOPs, GMPs, and GLPs  
  • General lab upkeep 
  • Reporting lab inventory 
  • Performing secondary laboratory functions (pH meter calibration, pipette box refills, etc.) 

Packaging Responsibilities  

  • Ability to perform complete operation of case sealing and erecting machinery, including but not limited to: 
  • Preparation  
  • Operation & troubleshooting 
  • Emergency repairs 
  • Daily clean-up and shutdown. 
  • Display a positive attitude and logical approach to assigned tasks and unexpected challenges 
  • Maintain flexibility with scheduling regarding production needs 
  • Adherence to SOP’s, ensuring the final product meets all specifications 
  • Display a working knowledge of mechanical and automated equipment, including ability to contact and communicate with staff and/or technicians to effectively address issues and solve in a timely manner 
  • Display an understanding or the brewing process with focus on important factors in packaged beer 
  • Display a sense of responsibility through assistance of all co-workers in ensuring completion of departmental duties 

Qualifications:   

  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated  
  • Strong ability to work independently and w/out supervision  
  • Maintain detailed and organized lab notebooks  
  • Ability to follow SOP’s and complete basic laboratory functions  
  • Effectively and safely operate laboratory/brewery equipment  

Job Requirements:  

  • BA/BS in Biology, Biochemistry, or other related field of study  
  • Prior lab experience (academic or otherwise)  
  • Must be 21 or turning 21 before hire date  
  • Lift 55lbs. from ground to shoulder height 
  • Climb stairs, ramps, and ladders
  • Work in small and confined spaces
  • Work on feet for several hours, including entire shift if necessary 
  • Work safely with chemicals with reasonable safety accommodations 
  • Work in loud environment with basic safety accommodations
  • A passion for craft beer
