Position Description:
The cellar assistant position is a foundational production role at Lost Boy Cider; everything else relies on it. Primary duties will include operating the canning line, cleaning and filling kegs, as well as assisting with various cider making tasks. These tasks may include cellar/warehouse organization, tank cleaning, juice reception, ingredient additions, cider transfers, blending, labeling, recordkeeping, packaging orders, idea generation, and taste trials, among others.
Much of the work will be repetitive and physical in nature. The position involves many consecutive hours on your feet, lifting up to 50 pounds, driving a forklift, climbing ladders, and getting in small enclosed spaces. However, our team believes in sharing the most fun aspects of cider making as well. Attention to detail and a fondness for cleanliness are beneficial qualities for this position; everything else can be learned in the journey. Our cellar assistants are valued members of our team, they are integral to our success, and are included in the entire cider making process as much as possible (although 90% of cider making really is cleaning).
Not sure if you should apply? Yes! You should still apply if…
- You don't have a lot of formal education. The right skills and the desire to learn are more important.
- You don't have prior experience in the craft beverage industry. It would be our pleasure to introduce you to this vibrant space.
- If you have been formerly incarcerated. Your past circumstances don't dictate your future potential.
- You require flexible working hours. We may be able to accommodate your needs.
- You think you are "sort of" qualified but not 100% qualified. Don't sell yourself short!
