The Packaging Manager is responsible for directing all activities of the Packaging Department. This position requires organizing and scheduling packaging operations as efficiently as possible while meeting quality standards and staying in compliance with policies and procedures. 



  • Oversee all packaging operations
  • Manage the packaging line Shift Lead and packaging Operators
  • Maintain schedule for packaging employees
  • Execute verbal or written incident reports regarding packaging employees
  • Ensure packaging employees are trained on safety, equipment, policies and procedures
  • Assist personnel on packaging line as necessary 
  • Assist in the coordination and completion of repacking product 
  • Follow up and assist in all shipping and receiving duties as necessary
  • Ensure that the required amount of operators are performing their duties to continue production
  • Ensure the packaging hall is clean and maintained so required production can proceed; ensure that all packaging personnel keep all work areas clean and organized 

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all packaging employees are working in a safe manner in accordance with company SOP’s and safety policies
  • Ensure that all machines are being operated by a trained employee and all guards and safety equipment are in place and working properly
  • Confirm that all machines are locked out and tagged out when being serviced
  • Work to implement 5S program in the packaging area 

Packaging Quality:

  • Correct any nonconforming packaging issues or notify the Director of Operations of the issues if unable to find a reasonable solution
  • Ensure the quality of packaging and materials meets company standards

Packaging Reporting:

  • Enter daily production into Navision
  • Maintain a packaged and released log
  • Ensure that packaged inventory coincides with inventory received into the warehouse
  • Ensure monthly inventory of packaging materials is completed


  • Accurate and timely ordering of materials
  • Create purchase orders (POs) in Navision and request approval on all POs before ordering packaging materials
  • Place orders with vendors after POs are approved
  • Track open purchase orders
  • Coordinate with logistics on shipping of incoming packaging materials, if necessary 
  • Resolving packaging related issues with vendors
  • Coordinate with Marketing to implement new or revised packaging material


  • Maintain proper organization and sanitation in the packaging hall
  • Ensure all packaging equipment is operational 
  • Ensure scheduled preventative maintenance is performed in a timely fashion 
  • Perform intermediate level maintenance tasks on the production floor 
  • Propose work orders for non-scheduled maintenance on equipment


  • Packaging/Maintenance experience
  • Forklift Certified
  • Strong alignment to company culture and values
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently and with limited direction
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with management, peers and across functions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
