As the face of the Fort George campus pubs and taproom, FOH Servers and To Go Servers are responsible for greeting, seating, and serving our guests. They open and close our restaurants, keep them clean and stocked, and provide customers with a comfortable and efficient dining and to go experience. The position is expected to possess a fundamental knowledge of our beers and menus, and to convey that knowledge in a professional and accessible way. Varying schedule to include weekends, evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.


  • Being able to complete all scheduled shifts and tasks as directed by supervisor
  • Instilling hospitality values to maintain customer satisfaction by providing conflict resolution, doling out appropriate discounts/voids, and conducting a positive and calm shift for yourself and all others on the floor
  • Opening and closing restaurant spaces
  • Ensuring appropriate atmosphere in dining areas at all times
  • Welcoming and greeting customers, vendors, and associates of Fort George
  • Soliciting food and drink orders, and ringing them into the Point of Sale accurately and efficiently
  • Executing best beer practices: in-depth knowledge of our beer and general pouring techniques
  • Being able to effectively work all related sections and roles at each location (upstairs pub, taproom, to-go)
  • Performing required shift change duties and side work
  • Cleaning all FOH restaurant areas, incl. restrooms, foyers, and surrounding courtyard and sidewalk areas
  • Accurately running credit cards and cash handling
  • Promoting food/beer specials, merchandise, and events
  • Verifying security and safety of the building and its occupants, verifying doors/windows/entrances are locked when closing
  • Attending all scheduled pre-shift meetings, server trainings, staff meetings, required trainings, and scheduled shifts
  • Adhering to and enforcing all applicable local, state, and federal alcohol laws, rules, regulations, and our responsibilities as a member of the OLCC Responsible Vendor Program
  • Adhering to all company policies, especially our safety, respectful workplace, and anti-harassment policies
  • Obtaining and maintaining all required certifications
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


  • Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid Food Handler’s card required (may be obtained within 30 days from first date of employment)
  • Valid OLCC Server’s Permit required (may be obtained within 45 days from first date of employment)
  • Cicerone Certified Beer Server Certification required (may be obtained within 45 days from first date of employment)
  • Ability to read labels on chemicals
  • Knowledge of workplace and safety procedures (may be obtained during training)
  • Must be able to successfully communicate and exchange information with patrons and coworkers
  • Ability to operate a Point of Sale machine (may be obtained during training)

Other Responsibilities:

  • Continuing beer and food education
  • Other duties assigned by supervisors
  • Filling in for absent staff as needed

  • Frequently works in hot, enclosed, noisy, and fast-paced setting
  • Frequently works in an outdoor setting; varied weather conditions are expected
  • Frequently works near toxic/caustic chemicals and with fumes or airborne particles
  • Occasionally works with and around sharp objects or tools
