Newport Craft is looking for a Packaging Manager to join our team at our facility in Newport, Rhode Island. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, organized, driven leader with experience on a brewhouse packaging line, a diverse skill set in the production industry and genuinely values teamwork and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take lead on all technical operations of the packaging equipment and packaging line
  • Play a key role in the decision making surrounding all packaging operations
  • Ensure break/fix and preventative maintenance tasks are completed internally or by a contracted technician
  • Lead spirit filling processes including proofing, bottling, labeling, additional POS items and palletizing
  • Assure the highest quality standards are met throughout the packaging process
  • Be a mentor to packaging line technicians to train and excel in all aspects of packaging
  • Monitor packaging material inventory and ordering timelines
  • Research and present suggestions to improve packaging quality, workflow processes and SOP’s
  • Practice analytical analyses of beer or packaging materials to ensure quality
  • Train on distillery operations, spirits development and production
  • Work with management team to support designing the upgraded packaging line for facility renovation
  • Perform brewhouse tasks as needed and help to enforce a clean and safe workspace

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • A team player with a leadership disposition, strong work ethic and ability to give and receive feedback
  • Experience in quality control and developing SOP’s for packaging operations, CIP, safety and effective workflow practices
  • Familiarity with packaging equipment including filler, seamer, conveyance, labeler, coder, depal, pallet wrapper, PakTech applicator
  • Has meticulous attention to detail, time-management, extreme organization and strong communication skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate direction and train staff as needed
  • Be a forward thinker who is always looking to improve and formulate ideas
  • Aware of good manufacturing practices and strong technical understanding of machinery
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Comfortable driving a box truck and forklift (will certify as necessary)
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety/compliance standards a plus


  • Proven experience in a distillery and/or brewery (ideal minimum of 2 years)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs, stand on your feet for hours at a time and walk-up ladders
