Sly Fox Brewing Company is looking to expand its production team as we emerge out of the pandemic and is looking for people who want to help us continue to grow as a company.

Position Description:

We’re looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with a strong scientific background for our Quality Department & Laboratory Manager position. This person will be carefully performing the daily analytical tasks required to ensure that our product is meeting Sly Fox’s quality standards. This job is full time and based at our production brewery in Pottstown, PA.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Microbiological testing on wort and beer at all stages of production as well as finished products.
  • Daily gravity sample collection and communicating with brewers and production planning on fermentation processes.
  • Performing cell counts/viability analysis on yeast slurry.
  • Compile and report information for the decision-making process as it relates to production processes.
  • Communicating with brewery personnel and management regarding any quality control issues that could arise.
  • Daily data entry, maintenance, filing, and communicating of QC reports.
  • Maintenance and appropriate calibration of laboratory equipment and keeping a clean lab.
  • Working on other projects with production team, which can include collaboration in recipe-making.
  • Continued development of sensory program, particularly for finished product comparisons and true-to-brand evaluations.

Our preferred candidate would have:

  • Desire to be a pivotal part of a team at a growing company who wants to collaborate to improve current or develop new products and processes.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably for food product.
  • Detail-oriented with an obsession and eye for quality.
  • High level of self-motivation to work efficiently while completing independent tasks.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, yet be precise in daily tasks.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time – critical skill.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Desire to learn.
  • Ability to work safely and abide by safety standards.
  • A base knowledge of the principals regarding beer brewing and post-brewing beer handling.

  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Ability to work in a moderate noise level (under 85 decibels).
