FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Wage Grade: Hourly; $16.75 + even split of restaurant tips

*based on hours worked, averaging $9-$15 additional per hour

Position Description:

The Line Cook assists the Executive and Sous Chef in the overall success of the kitchen. Assignments can be any station including, but not limited to: Fry, Grill, Sauté, Pantry, Prep, and Cleaning. Additionally, the Line Cook will need to comply with all sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and follow all established food production procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Stores food properly and safely, marking the date and item and first in/out
  • Ensures availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation
  • Correctly prepares all food served following standard recipes
  • Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved
  • Accurately portions food for serving
  • Maintains daily production records
  • Completes food temperature checks and standards
  • Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance to the supervisor
  • Produce food of expected quality in timely fashion
  • Keep stations clean and well stocked; Clean when slow or idle
  • Maintaining a Clean & Safe Work Environment in accordance with Local, State and Federal Rules and Law.
  • Assist Executive and Sous Chef in working towards goals within prescribed budget
  • Assist Executive and Sous Chefs in maintaining Food Cost

Skills and Experience

• Acquire Food Handlers card within 30 days of the start date

  • • Willingness to regularly work during evenings and weekends 

Job Requirements

  • Able to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
  • Able to regularly lift/carry 50 pounds
  • Able to work in indoor and outdoor environment with sometimes slippery floors
  • Able to work in varying degrees of temperatures that is typical for a retail food industry
  • Floor surface may vary from hard tiled floor or concrete to carpet
  • Ability to tolerate a high-level work pace that is typical for a retail food industry
  • The noise level in the work environment can be loud
  • Able to work 8-10 hours on your feet
