 River Barrel Brewing Inc (Buoy Beer & Pilot House Distilling) is seeking a Packaging Manager (F/T) to manage and lead our dedicated packaging teams.

You are an experienced team leader, team player with an eye for detail and possess the skills to keep our processes running efficiently and effectively. This position will report to our Director of Brewery Operations and Head Distiller and works closely with everyone in the production and management teams.

Job Duties include (but not limited to):

  • Train, coach and lead the packaging crew
  • Lead with a positive attitude and create a fun and productive team environment
  • Schedule your personnel based on production schedules and business needs
  • Manage and purchase packaging materials needed to complete packaging requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory and packaging records
  • Oversee development, maintenance, and documentation of all packaging SOP’s
  • Establish and strive to improve packaging efficiencies, down time, etc.
  • Be the safety ambassador for all things packaging related and promote safe habits throughout the production area
  • Set cleanliness protocols and maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the packaging department and the production areas
  • Communicate clearly with the Dir. Of Brewery Ops. and brewers to keep them apprised of happenings in the packaging department and to stay on the same page
  • Work closely with the QA/QC analyst to ensure that the highest quality standards are achieved
  • Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager to ensure that all incoming and outgoing deliveries are properly planned and executed
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with other company managers
  • Participate in production meetings and other staff meetings as scheduled
  • Work with Dir. Of Brewery Ops./ Head Distiller and management regarding future growth plans and provide input on the best way to carry out those plans

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required, packaging and/or brewing related certification preferred
  • At least 3 yrs experience running and maintaining a brewery packaging line
  • Minimum of one year in a management role, successfully leading and motivating a team
  • Be a hands-on leader, able and willing to jump in and help out whenever necessary
  • Passionate about creating and implementing sustainable practices
  • Flexible availability and able to work some evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Advanced forklift skills
  • Strong math skills, attention to detail, and spatial insight required
  • Live by the “Safety First” rule
  • Must be able to perform physical work, including prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting and moving (packages/kegs up to 170 lbs.). Repeated lifting of 50 lbs.
  • Requires working in a non-temperature controlled environment, handling of hazardous materials, and exposure to complex machinery
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and refrigerated, damp, and wet environments
  • Comfortable working on ladders and lifts
  • Strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Teams, Excel)
  • Treat teammates with respect at all times
  • Familiarity with OBeer is a plus, or other Inventory Management Software
