As the site Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Senior Manager you will ensure that Safety and Quality are at the forefront of all activities for both them and their team. This role will work closely with all levels of leadership, professionals and hourly workforce to deploy, implement and lead the EHS agenda. The EHS Manager has the responsibility to analyze accident data and develop and implement actionable safety/environmental solutions.

  • Strategic Planning (30%)
  • Create the overall site environmental compliance and safety programs and action plans for the facility by supporting the location’s manufacturing teams with the integration of safety and environmental programs, Workers' Compensation, prevention efforts, and regulatory compliance into everyday work life.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the EHS Annual Operating Plans and EHS Action Plans for the location, including implementation, execution, and ensuring compliance with MA Brewing EHS policies and procedures, as well as all federal, state and local OSHA/EPA/ (i.e. Lockout Tagout, Haz Com, Machine Safety, etc.)
  • Develop, implement, execute, and manage strategies to prevent workplace injuries, and environmental incidents
  • Lead the development and implementation of the EHS Annual Operating Plans and EHS Action Plans for the location
  • Technical Functions (25%)
  • Perform risk assessments and assist in the implementation of effective physical and/ or behavioral control measures. Recognize and verify the effectiveness of in-place control measures
  • Identify unsafe behaviors and unsafe conditions in the workplace using regulatory requirements & best safety practices
  • Identify unsafe equipment operation and conditions while demonstrating knowledge of appropriate corrective action for unsafe conditions or equipment use
  • Logistical Functions (25%)
  • Represents the facility to external regulatory agencies and supports the negotiation of penalties
  • Complete root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to address causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry-recognized cause analysis techniques
  • Conduct EHS activities such as training/auditing/assessing to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements, Emergency Response and internal MAB EHS procedures
  • Execute plant evacuation drills bi-annually
  • Conduct regular safety and environmental audits throughout the plant, to include evaluation of job requirements and ergonomics
  • Team & Leadership Functions (20%)
  • Directs activities to conduct investigations, identify root cause and recommend corrective measures
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to management regarding environmental, health & safety practices, interpretation of company environmental, health and safety policies, problem resolution, and compliance with federal and state law; develops and maintains written departmental procedures to guide management in the application of established environmental, health and safety processes

Qualifications, Education, & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in industrial engineering, safety, or a related field
  • 5+ years’ relevant work experience in EHS in a related industry, such as consumer packaged goods, distribution/transportation, or manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of government regulations (i.e. OSHA, EPA, etc.) and basic understanding of Workers Compensation
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to influence, effective communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking skills and presence in meetings and training environments

  • Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader by influencing all levels of the organization to drive continuous improvement in safety performance
  • Exercise a leadership, coordination, and communication role with the location leadership to drive continuous EHS improvement across the location
  • Ability to make and deliver training presentations, work collaboratively with colleagues to create results-driven, team-oriented environment, maintain confidentiality, make independent decisions, demonstrate excellent organizational skills, use PC and related software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
