The purpose of the Sales Manager position is to increase brand awareness by increasing points of distribution in both on- and off-premise, hiring/managing a team of regional sales reps, and assisting the Sales/Marketing Director in driving outside sales as needed. This position works in collaboration with multiple departments and leaders, and develops/maintains relationships with our brand's distribution partners. Varying schedule to occasionally include weekends, evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates. Position will require periodic overnight stays to work certain markets.

-- 5+ years experience in craft beer industry sales or related beverage sales experience

-- Must be 21 years of age or older

-- Must possess valid OLCC Server’s permit (may be obtained within 45 days from first date of employment)

-- Must possess a valid driver’s license or ability to travel to all required events, accounts, and functions

-- Cicerone Certified Beer Server certification required

-- Ability to take initiative and work with a limited amount of direction; ability to work both independently and within a team collaboratively to accomplish goals

-- Proficiency in necessary computer programs including VIP, word processing and spreadsheet applications, & iDig

-- Must possess detail-oriented organizational and self-motivated time management skills

-- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse array of personalities, accounts, and organizations

-- Working directly with the Marketing/Sales Director, Sales Analyst, Head Brewer, Beer Traffic Control, and others to strategize and achieve measurable sales growth in the territory, maintaining weekly communications and an accurate account log

-- Reviewing distributor and product performance (ongoing) and communicating Fort George objectives/sales goals to distribution partners and sales team

-- Working directly with Marketing/Sales Director, Sales Analyst, Beer Traffic Control, Senior Vice President, marketing staff, and brewers (and collaboration partners, when appropriate) to strategize and communicate production needs/gaps

-- Reviewing VIP reports from distribution partners in order to prepare metrics for periodic sales reviews

-- Helping establish and meet monthly and yearly volume sales and distribution goals

-- Routinely corresponding with distributors/partners/buyers, executing trainings, ride-alongs, individual account support, direct sales, tastings, and events in order to keep distributor partners informed of our product updates and inspired to sell our products

-- Directing territory sales by visiting current and potential customers in order to solidify business and build relationships, including but not limited to cold calls, “thank you” visits to existing accounts, and daytime/evening/weekend market visits as needed

-- Representing Fort George by participating with buyers and customers in (including but not limited to) special events, promotions, on-premise events, retail/grocery tastings, festivals, media opportunities, and partner organization events

-- Merchandising accounts with available Point of Sale (POS) or delegating to sales team as needed

-- Identifying and pursuing key on- and off-premise and partnership opportunities that further Fort George sales and/or visibility

-- Weekly or semi-weekly on-sites with marketing, brew, and distro teams in Astoria

-- Providing specific customer beer/brewery education for distributors, retail accounts, sales team, and end consumers

-- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with (including but not limited to) key buyers, allies, VIPs, and media

-- Continuously performing quantitative and qualitative assessments of events and position’s efforts


-- Maintaining high level of communication with supervisor, direct reports, and key marketing/brewery/distribution team members

-- Actively participating in or driving key meetings and business presentations w/ distribution partners

-- Attending industry functions as required

-- Responding positively and quickly to voicemails, emails, and staff/associate concerns in a timely manner, both internally and externally

-- Treating all employees with dignity and respect; contributing to an environment where all employees do the same

-- Building relationships with outside partners to assure business objectives are met

-- Attending, planning, occasionally delivering beer/supplies such as kegs, jockey boxes, cases, etc. to, promoting, and/or pouring at key industry events, conferences, releases, etc.; capturing/using high-quality photos and other promotional materials as necessary

-- Occasionally assembling/disassembling/cleaning jockey boxes and other event equipment

-- Continuing beer and industry education

-- Other duties assigned by supervisor
