Faubourg Brewing Company is searching for an Assistant Financial Controller leading all aspects of the brewery’s finance and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of prior relevant experience in a similar role and take a hands-on approach to the oversight and execution of the brewery accounting controls. Faubourg was founded as Dixie Brewing in 1907 and is the oldest operating brewery in New Orleans.Dixie announced its new name in November 2020, as a tribute to the diverse neighborhoods of New Orleans, as faubourg (pronounced fo-burg) is a French word that’s often used interchangeably with “neighborhood” in New Orleans.
Overall Job Purpose
The Assistant Financial Controller role is a dream job for a motivated, financially curious, self-starter looking to work closely with a manufacturing, marketing, and sales organization. This role is responsible for managing all finance and accounting operations of the organization. The position is the key point of contact and control for large purchases, financial procedures, cash operations, financial reporting, and other financial activities.
·Prepares financial statements to summarize and forecast the company’s financial status.
·Produces and manages balance sheets and analyzes future earnings and expenses
·Controls all management of accounting, tax and budgeting with the organization
·Oversees all financial related activities of the brewery including: production and contract brewing operations, retail operations, and e-commerce,
·Leads and coordinates all inventory management procedures including: physical month-end counts, cash reconciliation, raw material days on hand, and ad hoc reconciliations as needed for accounting controls. Works to reconcile inaccuracies and document route cause process improvements for reducing variances.
·Uses accounting system to maintain invoices, payables, journal entries and prepare reports
·Delegates and oversees accounting tasks to staff accountant
·Coordinates with and prepares reports for GM, CFO, Board and senior management review
·Complies with all federal, state, and local tax reporting needs
·Maintains proper insurance and TTB documentation for the company
·Manages cash operations of the company
·Maintains reconciliations of cash, fixed assets, receivables and payable accounts
·Performs other tasks/projects as deemed necessary
·College degree in Accounting or Finance
·Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and demonstrated eagerness to improve technical skillset for the purposes of management presentations and efficiency.
·Management experience in a finance or accounting role
·Ability to work at a fast pace and under pressure in meeting internal and external deadlines
·Ability to work well with vendors and employees in a professional and respectful manner
·Knowledge of inventory costing methodologies (FIFO, LIFO) as well as cost of goods and activity-based costing experience and interest in the development of fully loaded product COGS.
·Ability to work productively and effectively at all times
·Detail oriented and highly organized
·Ability to change or adapt to work practices, priorities, procedures, and/or to reschedule activities in response to changing conditions and multiple work demands.
·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
·5+ years of relevant industry or equivalent experience
·Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations
·CPA or CMA strongly preferred
·Ability to use all MS Office Tools effectively
