Brewer Position at Resident Culture Brewing Company in Charlotte, NC
Resident Culture is a four year old locally owned and operated brewery located in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. We have a strong focus on carefully crafted lager beer, assertive hop forward ales, fruited sours, and barrel aged stouts and mixed culture ales. We consider our beer quality to be extremely important but secondary to how we treat our employees and the human connections we make. We highly value each of our employees and have created a tight family community amongst our staff and are looking to expand our family by adding a full time brewer to our team. In addition to finding someone with the necessary technical skills and experience we are principally looking for individuals who fit our culture of hard work ethic and caring for our fellow team members.
Why we think you will enjoy working with us:
The brewer will work hand in hand with our lead brewer and cellar/QC lead to help complete all cellar work (including transfers and tank cleaning) and all wort production on our 15BBL three vessel steam fired brew house. This person will have collaborative input and will be part of an open and supportive team. We are a dynamic brewery that is continuously refining our recipes, ingredients and approach in search of a better final product and we want you to be a part of that process. We take a team approach to everything, if one person has to work a long day then everyone should have to work a long day to help them out.
We highly value our employees' quality of life. This means extremely competitive compensation, health benefits (including vision and dental), reasonable work hours, very flexible time off policy with no set limit on paid time off, discounts at our two Charlotte locations, little to no weekend work, no graveyards, paid travel for beer collaborations, paid educational conferences and professional development, beer festival participation, and, of course, free beer.
Qualifications and Job Duties:
At least 2 years of brewing experience in a pub or production brewery setting. You should be very comfortable completing all cellar work (beer transfers with a strong focus on low dissolved oxygen, dry hopping, tank cleaning and sanitizing etc...), yeast management (sterile collection and pitching of yeast), all brewing duties and wort production from start to finish, keg washing and filling, and general cleaning duties. Be ready and willing to be crossed trained on our 6-head CODI counter pressure canning line. To be clear the brewer we hire will not be regularly canning but we like for all of our staff to be cross trained and knowledgable about all processes and equipment and may be asked to fill in as needed if packaging staff is on vacation or sick.
We value great work ethic, communication skills and especially a positive attitude. We all work together to complete whatever task is needed and no one is above any job, whatever it may be. We expect the person hired to embrace this attitude. We are looking for someone who can learn quickly, work hard, and, of course, has a passion for quality beer. The candidate must be able to lift at least 55lbs, work long shifts on your feet, and forklift experience is a must.
We are hoping to fill this position as soon as possible.
Please send your resume, cover letter, and at least two references to Chris Tropeano at email@example.com. Be sure to mention what styles of beers you most like to drink and mention a handful of the beers/breweries that are an inspiration to you. We promise to respond in a timely manner. Thanks for your interest.
