Shift Brewer
Basic functions and scope of the job:
Brewer’s primary responsibilities will be the daily production of wort, cellar work, and monitoring fermentation. The Brewer position is full-time and will report directly to the Head Brewer. Additionally, the Brewer will workclosely with all production departments including Filtration and Packaging.
Work performed: The Brewers operate and oversee wort production from grain handling
through fermentation and maturation. A typical day includes milling grain, operating the Mash,Boil Kettle, and Whirpool vessels. Cleaning and sanitizing equipment for transfers to the cellar, and monitoring fermentation progress. Dry-hop additions, and yeast propagation.
Duties:
- Work brew shifts each week in a safe and efficient manner.
- Learn and adhere to standard operating and safety procedures in wort production,
- vessel cleaning and sanitation, yeast handling, fermentation and maturation, sample
- collecting operations.
- Ensure a clean and sanitary working environment
- Communicate with all relevant departments to ensure safety, quality and efficiency.
- Understand and adhere to recipes and formulas.
- Complete, enter and maintain daily brewhouse and cellar records.
- Troubleshoot and report all mechanical issues within the department.
- Study and understand all brewhouse and cellar work-in-progress (WIP), knowing the
- age, gravity and biological status of each product.
- Assist in cycle counts and end of month inventory procedures.
- Attend and participate in departmental and all company meetings.

- Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- At least three years of experience in a leadership role at a production beverage company
- Degree in brewing science or related field is preferred
- Experience with quality control lab procedures
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
