Come join an award-winning brewery dedicated to making high-quality beers with a focus on detail and all-natural ingredients. The job of the Lead Packaging Technician is to oversee late-stage cellaring and all packaging operations at Living the Dream Brewing Company.

This will include but is not limited to; CIP/SIP, transfers, carbonation, packaging (draft and cans), maintenance and upkeep of all packaging/draft equipment (canning line, draft system, cooperage), and monitoring consumables inventory. The Lead Packaging Technician is also responsible for documenting and tracking all packaging data. This requires good communication skills and knowledge of the production area. The Lead Packaging Technician holds an important role in the chain of custody of our beer. They are responsible for cleaning kegs properly and packaging product in a sanitary manner. This role needs to be treated with the utmost care and respect to ensure our community enjoys only the best products we can produce.

The Living the Dream Lead Packaging Technician:

  • Reports to the Head Brewer
  • Ensures product is seen through the packaging process in accordance with the goals of the Head Brewer
  • Aids in canning line operations, eventually becoming the primary operator of the Alpha 4-head canning line
  • Tracks and reports all packaging data
  • Schedules and performs preventative maintenance on the packaging equipment, and the mechanics involved in their operation, including the Alpha canning line, American Stainless keg washer, cooperage, and draft system
  • Coordinates product timeline and readiness with the Head Brewer
  • Requires broad thinking, innovative effort, and an imagination when it comes to problem solving
  • The Lead Packaging Technician’s Primary Goals are to:
  • Master all packaging line equipment operations including, but not limited to: cleaning, start-up, normal operation, shut-down, changeovers, and maintenance
  • Have a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency, while constantly evaluating work practices in the spirit of continuous improvement through open and constructive dialog
  • Fulfill the required packaging plan of cans and kegs to meet sales needs
  • Demonstrate initiative, leadership, and self-motivation

Qualifications Required:

  • At least 9 months of experience in a commercial brewery, with a minimum of 3 months of packaging line experience
  • Formal brewing education is a positive, but not necessary
  • Excellent sanitation and cleaning practices
  • Mechanical and problem-solving aptitude
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a “no job is too small” attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented with process-focused thinking.
  • Good time management skills
  • Courage to take risks and exceed your own expectations. Also, the courage to be honest with yourself about your own performance and limitations
  • Forklift certification is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with EKOS Brewmaster is a plus
  • Must be at least 21 years old

Physical Demands:

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand and walk for long periods of time; use fingers and hands to reach and feel objects; talk and hear; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, twist, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, and/or move up to 55 pounds in general environments with up to 165 pounds on occasion. Use of arms above or below the shoulder is sometimes required. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Requires manual dexterity and ability to quickly move hand(s), grasp, manipulate or assemble. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment dealing with temperature extremes, humidity, and water

Pay-rate and Benefits

$17-20/hour, depending on experience.
