Second Chapter Brewing

Second Chapter Brewing is a new craft brewery opening in fall 2022. The brewery is located in the former Goodall City Library building in downtown Ogallala, Nebraska. The renovated and repurposed space will feature an on-site brewery, large patio, and taproom near Lake McConaughy. We offer significant growth potential for a hard working, creative, and enthusiastic individual. 

Job Duties:

  • Work closely with the owners to develop a vibrant taproom and top-notch community space;
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise taproom employees;
  • Manage taproom scheduling;
  • Lead and direct taproom customer service, including bartending, retail sales, operations, event management, and responding to customer inquiries or feedback;
  • Develop and coordinate events, marketing, social media content, website content, and special offerings;
  • Utilize point of sale system and other software tools to produce accurate and consistent records of sales and activities; 
  • Ensure proper handling of transactions (cash, card, etc.), and proper accounting and storage of cash on-premise; 
  • Clean the bar area, patio and taproom in its entirety when necessary (tables, windows, floor, bathroom, etc.); 
  • Maintain a positive, fair, and safe work environment free of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Arrangement: 

  • This will be a full-time hourly position: 
  • Pay range is equivalent to $30,000-40,000 annual salary before tips, depending on skills and experience;
  • The position is eligible for tips while bartending; and
  • The position includes a competitive benefits package (personal leave, holidays, potential for profit-sharing incentives, etc.). 
  • Hours are flexible, however, please note:
  • Initial taproom hours are 11:00 am - 10:00 pm Tuesday-Saturday (subject to change)
  • Manager will work either opening or closing shifts; and 
  • Night and weekend availability is required.
  • Position will remain open until filled.
  • Reports to owners. 
  • Supervises taproom staff.

Requirements:

  • Two or more years relevant work experience in restaurant and bar industry, retail, breweries and wineries, or similar service sector;
  • Ability to work independently, as well as lead, manage, and motivate a team;
  • Willingness to learn new skills, innovate and adapt to changes;
  • Must have a friendly and outgoing personality;
  • Must be able to follow and ensure staff compliance with all health and safety procedures, including best practices for responsible serving of alcohol. 
  • Ability to work on the weekends, evenings, and some holidays; and
  • Must be able to remain standing for long periods of time, to lift up to 50 pounds, and to lift up to 165 pounds with assistance. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Experience successfully leading teams;
  • Passion for craft beer and customer engagement;
  • Analytical skills and a solid understanding of business management practices and strategies;
  • Technical agility and experience working with point of sale, inventory management, social media, and other software tools and platforms;
  • Excellent problem solving capacity and attention to detail; and
  • Energy and enthusiasm to help us grow.
