Job Overview: The Cellar team is responsible for all aspects of the cold-side processes related to fermentation, conditioning, treatment, clarification, and carbonation of product. This position also has the ability to grow within the company, transitioning into Cellar Lead or Assistant Brewer positions, depending on qualifications and performance. The ideal candidate is a results-focused self starter, who works well in a team environment, aspires to grow within the organization, and is committed to maintain world-class beer quality.

This role will be based out of the Downtown Indianapolis warehouse and reports to the Director of Brewing Operations.

Primary Job Duties

·      Consistently maintain cleanliness in brewhouse and brewery area

·      Safely and consistently follow all SOPs, as dictated by supervisors

·      Assist management with developing/refining cold-side processes

·      Clean, sanitize, transport, and organize packaging materials

·      Assist with additional brewing functions, as needed

·      Assist with glycol system management and maintenance

·      CIP of brewhouse, fermentation vessels, and other equipment while following all safety guidelines

·      Follow, maintain, and assist in the development of sanitary practices across all aspects of beer production

·      Assist with lab testing and other QA activities, as needed

Position Details/Requirements

·      Basic understanding of brewing concepts (basic brewing and fermentation)

·      Strong organizational habits, self-motivated work ethic, and positive attitude 

·      Ability to self-direct/manage time without direct input or supervision

·      Ability to perform multiple tasks sequentially/concurrently

·      Basic understanding of brewery QA methods and techniques

·      Willingness to communicate consistently and effectively within the brewing operations teams as well as across other teams (onsite and remote) 

·      Willingness to follow all published SOPs/protocols and to assist in the development of new ones

·      Forklift operation certification preferred, but not required

·      Must be able to engage in heavy physical labor including climbing stairs, climbing into tanks, pulling hoses, scrubbing/working in hot environments or in uncomfortable positions (bending/squatting/reaching)

·      Ability to team-lift up to 160 lbs and lift up to 80 lbs

·      Ability to stand/walk on hard surfaces for an entire shift

·      Willingness to work in wet/hot/cold conditions

·      Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous chemicals
