What we’re looking for: This is a full-time position with the primary responsibility of operating our 30-barrel brewhouse. Conditions of this system include but are not limited to milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, addition of hops, whirlpool, and tempering wort. Furthermore, the brewer is responsible for pre- and post cleaning and sanitation of all vessels and transfer equipment. Ancillary responsibilities will include pitching yeast, beer transfers, barrel filling, fruit processing, operating canning line, tank CIPs, maintenance of equipment and parts, and other cellar requirements. The brewer works typical 8-10 hour shifts dependent upon the brew schedule.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum of two years brewing experience
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Familiarity with classic and newer beer styles
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with the brewing team to ensure procedural quality and adhere to the production targets
  • Communicate with wholesalers and sales team to facilitate orders
  • Communicate with taproom team regarding inventory and new offerings, conducting tastings and beer education
  • Consistently maintain all beer production operations including equipment (brewhouse, mill room/grain storage, walk-in cooler, dry storage and barrel inventory)
  • General knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions associated with work
  • Follow all cleanup procedures post brewing/cellaring
  • Occasional handling of hazardous material
  • Participate with team and technicians for equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Operate machinery to transport materials in the brewhouse and maintain electronic brewing systems.
  • Other duties as directed by the head brewer.
  • Occasional transporting of raw materials and finished goods between facilities
  • Clean and sanitize all cellar vessels
  • Maintain and clean the area surrounding all of the fermentation vessels
  • Transfer product between vessels, carbonates beer, and packages beer
  • Harvest yeast from fermenters
  • Work on the packaging line
  • Perform physical inventory count of hops and grain
  • Pull product from walk in and arranges for order shipment
  • Perform spray foam cleaning of the hot and cold side brewing area
  • Provide occasional support on the keg washer
  • Occasionally drive product between facilities
  • Provide support with cleaning dirty vessel parts
  • Ensure that kegs are cleaned to meet packaging needs
  • Responsible for keg storage and inventory management
  • Provide support for kegging duties
  • Check packing slips for raw material orders and place raw materials in their respective locations

 Physical Qualifications:

  • Involves frequent walking, carrying, and lifting objects varying from 50 pounds to 150 pounds.
  • Repeated use of brewing equipment that requires manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged amounts of time without breaks

Work Environment:

  • The duties of this job frequently expose the employee to a wet environment with extremely hot liquids, grain and hop particles, chemicals, and moving machinery.
  • The employee will occasionally be exposed to a very loud environment when machines are being used.
