Job purpose

The Brewery Manager will be responsible for overseeing brewery staff and producing high quality beer under the guidelines of Company policies. Will also be responsible for the coordination and execution of scheduling under direction of the Head Brewer. Will also oversee the creation of new procedures, policies, and SOPs related to brewery operations. Will also be responsible for ensuring Company safety procedures, policies, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are followed by the department. 

Duties and responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Oversee and coordinate brewery staff and supervise daily brewery operations to ensure the achievement of scheduled objectives and labor budgets.

· Responsible for ensuring the production of high-quality product that meets Company quality specifications; also responsible for ensuring that all brewery processes and cleaning and sanitation procedures are followed in accordance with Brewery SOPs.

· Create a weekly work schedule for all team members that ensures the execution of all production objectives while minimizing labor costs.

· Assist in the creation of pilot and specialty programs, schedules, and recipes for retail and wholesale release.

· Responsible for working with the Head Brewer to establish, track, and report key production, efficiency, and quality metrics (KPIs) to the Director of Brewery Operations.

· Participates in the sensory analysis panel to create brand profiles and ensure true-to-brand consistency is met across product lines.

· Responsible for managing Brewery inventory and updating all production in the Encompass ERP software.

· Assist in the sourcing and purchasing of malts, hops, and specialty ingredients. 

· Oversees the training and technical evaluation of all Brewery and Cellar team members.

· Responsible for quality control of raw materials and communicating any issues to the Quality Manager and Head Brewer.

· Responsible for routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of all Brewery and Cellar equipment. Also responsible for stocking and sourcing of spare parts to ensure minimal production downtime.

· Conduct employee one-on-one meetings, counselling sessions, and periodic performance reviews and provide feedback to team members based on performance and goals.

· Responsible for reviewing, creating, and updating SOPs.

· Responsible for working in production areas and assisting team members in accomplishing weekly production objectives.

· Upholds all safety standards and ensure that all production employees are compliant in Brewery safety policies and practices.

· Must be at least 21 years of age.

Education and/or Experience

A minimum of 5 years’ experience brewing in a commercial brewery with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role with a certificate or diploma in one of the fields of brewing science, microbiology, chemistry, engineering, or a related subject; or equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
