The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of the Human Resource department, including policies, procedures, and benefits for the company. Leading efforts for recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, training, employee relations, performance management and employee rewards to ensure top performance and retention of strong performers. Ensures compliance with state and federal employment law while supporting the company’s values, and culture. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Essential Responsibilities
- Leads and directs the Human Resources department and team in supporting the employees and managers to success.
- Manages and holds the HR Generalist position accountable and supports its work efforts and responsibilities.
- Advises leadership on best practices in all areas of HR to promote a positive work environment.
- Providing insight and options compliant and consistent with company philosophies, policies and culture.
- Develops and responsible for maintaining employee policies, procedures and practices.
- Establishes internal policies and controls of all HR programs and processes.
- Ensures the accurate execution of bi-weekly payroll.
- Manages all health benefits including medical and prescription drug, dental, vision, and supplemental policies.
- Maintains benefit broker relationship and coordinates all aspects of benefit plans, annual rebids and open enrollment. Recommends benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on available benefits for employees.
- Maintains compliance with ACA regulations.
- Administers the company 401(k) plan and ensures compliance with federal regulations.
- Executes and manages the performance evaluation process, including training and coaching managers to ensure fairness and efficiency in the process.
- Investigates, documents, and resolves employee relations issues and grievances.
- Supports management of workers’ compensation claims and reporting.
- Monitors Human Resource metrics and makes recommendations to leadership on identified trends.
- Coaches managers in workforce planning, recruiting, and staffing.
- Ensures continuous and comprehensive training and development for staff.
- Maintains a fair and competitive compensation structure.
- Ensures all mandated reporting is completed in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner.
- Ensures legal compliance with all federal and state laws by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements.
- Seeks and secures legal advice when necessary.
- Supports periodic review and revision of the organization’s employee handbook.
- Ensures employee records are complete, accurate, and confidential.
- Oversees the exit process and makes recommendations based on identified trends.

Requirements

Physical & Mental Requirements
Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties, in at times extreme environments, as well as the ability to handle stressors of the position in operational and administrative situations. Required to frequently lift and move 10-25 pounds. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools, and controls.
