Personnel and Recruiting Specialist is responsible for the smooth operation of Flying Dog’s HR department ensuring that all HR policies and procedures are being followed correctly. In addition, this role needs to know how to identify talent in order to hire the right people for the right positions. There are a wide range of responsibilities which also include coaching the Flying Dog team to victory in our annual softball game!

What you will do here:

Talent Acquisition

  • Devise and implement a list of procedures and best practices for hiring and onboarding new employees
  • Utilize ATS (applicant tracking system) and industry specific job boards to recruit new talent
  • Schedule and conduct phone screenings, interviews, reference checks and provide detailed feedback to hiring managers
  • Work with managers to select starting dates, create offer letters and schedule orientation

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all procedures/policies comply with legal regulations and best practices
  • Observe federal, state and local legal requirements in employee relations and safety
  • Reporting: EEO, OSHA, benefits census, worker’s comp, FMLA, auditory testing
  • Actively participate in the Safety Committee

Administrative

  • Maintain employee referral program, anniversary recognition program, safety incentive program, employee beer distribution and internal communications
  • Maintain and update benefit eligibility worksheet and company email distribution list
  • Utilize HRIS to the company’s recordkeeping and management advantage

The Squishy Stuff

  • Create an environment that fosters teamwork, engaged employees and high performance
  • Respond to employees concerns and suggestions in a timely and thoughtful manner, redirect employees to their supervisors/managers and/or facilitate conversations between employees and their managers with the goal of working toward solutions, mutual understanding and positive next steps
  • Plan and execute employee events

Physical Requirements:

  • Thick skin, the HR jokes are no joke
  • Ability to lead a team of beer drinking mutts through dynamic stretches before any events requiring physical activity beyond that of curling a pint
