Fiction Beer Company is a growing brewery on Colfax Ave in Denver, CO brewing beers inspired by our favorite works of fiction.  Fiction Beer Company is where beer geeks and book dorks unite, brewing classic styles, seasonals, and specialty beers (barrel aged, sour, 100% brett, etc). 

We are searching for a self-motivated Assistant Brewer to assist the head brewer with day-to-day operation in the brewhouse.  The position is a full time, hourly position that will be integral in all functions related to brewing, including (but not limited to) wort production, cellar-work, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and packaging of beer.  The Assistant Brewer will report to the Head Brewer and be scheduled 35-40 hours per week.

Qualified candidates will have formal brewing education, or 2 years of brewery experience, and comprehension of the fundamentals of Brewing Science. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as comfort with various computer systems and an eye for problem solving.    . 

 Assistant Brewer Requirements:

  • 1-2 years or more of experience, or formal brewing education with internship
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Highly organized self-starter
  • Driver License and a clean driving record
  • Passionate about quality and cleanliness
  • Highly motivated and can work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to wear multiple hats on any given day and remain cool under pressure
  • Technical knowledge of all aspects of the brewing process
  • Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Accredited brewing degree a plus
  • Flexibility with work hours and availability
  • Ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly and safely   

Assistant Brewer Duties:

  • Cleaning and sanitizing all equipment in the brewery
  • Quality assurance throughout the entire brewing process including detailed record keeping
  • Troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of all brewery equipment
  • Management of raw materials and brewing supplies
  • Representing the brewery at various festivals and promotional events from time to time
  • Operate manual keg cleaning manifold and filler
  • Accurately and completely documenting all required data in the Brew log, fermentation log, and sensory log
  • Assist other employees as necessary in the taproom or in difficult tasks
  • Ability to drive a Ford Transit delivery van
  • Management of inventory on site as well as offsite cold/dry storage
  • Assisting with operation of the canning line and labeler during canning runs
  • Delivery of product as required after canning runs or otherwise necessary
  • Perform all tasks as needed to complete the above responsibilities including but not limited to: repeatedly lifting heavy objects up to 160 lbs, crouching in tight spaces, and working with extreme hot and cold temperatures 
  • Following and establishing safety procedures; maintaining a safe work environment at all times

Compensation:

  • Starting at $17.31/hr
