Get to Know This Role

The Packaging Operator works within a team to operate, clean, inspect, lubricate, changeover and perform minor maintenance tasks on packaging lines and equipment. They are responsible for working effectively within a team to meet production demands while maintaining a safe work environment and producing a quality product. Key customers of this position include the Packaging Supervisors and Operator Mechanics.

What You Will Do

  • Unloads and/or loads and transports raw materials or packaging components to create saleable finished goods
  • Operates equipment on a high-speed packaging line, including can line, bottle line, keg line, or repack (variety) line
  • Cleans production areas, equipment, work areas, or other parts of the facility to maintain food sanitation standards
  • Performs routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, minor adjustments, repairs and light-duty maintenance of equipment
  • Generates, conducts and completes work orders using a CMMS and addresses other production issues as they arise
  • Communicates packaging related information to other people or teams effectively
  • Operates process control equipment and handles manual activities required to monitor and control the movement of product
  • Follows SOPs and completes documentation via check sheets
  • Conducts process quality control checks
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

Please Apply if You Have

  • 1 year Experience in a production setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential
  • Must be able to collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams
  • The ability to take ownership and initiative to perform tasks beyond assignment-specific duties is desired
  • The ability to grasps technical material quickly is essential
  • Understanding of how to use basic hand tools (Allen wrenches, screw drivers, sockets/wrenches, etc.) is essential
  • Strong attention to detail and eye for package quality is essential
  • Must have the desire and willingness to learn on-the-job
