Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing operates a 30 bbl brew house and an Industry leading regional craft brewery located in Cherry Hill NJ - right outside of Philadelphia. We are forward thinkers that brought to life NJs first craft hard seltzer and NJs first non-alcoholic brand to market.

We are looking for a well-organized, passionate, open minded individual to lead our team in brewing, new product development, and current territory expansion.The ideal candidate will be able to lead our organization in pushing barrel numbers for our expansion by effectively planning and coordinating schedules & resources to meet demand in our new market. The candidate must have proven leadership skills and be capable of managing a team to get the jobs done together.

PRIMARY DUTIES FOR THE HEAD BREWER

§ Can provide hands on work for all positions necessary including brewing, packaging, cellaring operations, and maintenance of all necessary fermentation logs

§ Leads all day-to-day activities necessary to produce high quality, always consistent beer

§ Ability to develop new recipes including new product development such as malt based alternatives and NA product development

§ Holds self and brewers accountable for adhering to SOPs and maintaining a sanitary and micro-biologically stable work environment

§ Facilitates future growth of the brewery through continuous optimization of current processes

§ Vetting, hiring, training and management of a complete brewhouse staff

§ Develop performance and productivity metrics for all production areas and hold team members accountable for achieving these goals

§ Manage the work environment that is safe for all employees and visitors implementing procedures, conducting trainings, and addressing and curing safety deficiencies

§ Manage brewhouse operations, including utilities, raw materials, safety, personnel and training and maintenance

§ Manage / conduct quality checks, process audits of brewery to ensure adherence to quality standards

§ Review current SOPs and develop new firm SOP’s and master data base of fermentation logs for every beer brewed

§ Firm understanding of the science behind beer and how to achieve optimal fermentation during the lifetime of the beer as well as continuous audits of water profiles, pH levels and how to make adjustments

§ Coordination of brewing schedule and new product development needs to meet the needs of our distributors, local sales, in-house sales, and festival needs

§ Must be able to manage multiple yeast strains, how to collect and re-pitch yeast multiple times over the course of its life, and ability to cell count

§ Performing brewery audits to ensure quality, consistency and repeatability of brewing

§ Firm communication to management about fermentation, tank turn over times, and any problems as they arrive

§ Pro-active problem solver

Required Knowledge and Experience

5+ years professional brewing experience

Ability to produce on a 30 BBL system and ferment 60 barrels at a time

Proficient in Excel

Knowledge of the various chemical and biological components involved in the production of wort and fermentation.

Keen problem solving skills, leadership, and ability to improve processes as needed.

Ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments in the event of equipment failure, ingredient shortages, or other unexpected obstacles.

Strong communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a professional manner.

Ability to create and follow detailed instructions and procedures.

Possess the ability to multi-task and manage stressful circumstances associated with a fast paced and evolving work environment.

Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.

Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment.

Willingness to gain an understanding of quality assurance / quality control and problem solving skills as well as to troubleshoot any beer related issues.
