Head Brewer
Responsibilities:
- Manage brew house processes from wort production to fermentation to final product
- Manage physical brewery activities including but not limited to inventory, organization, cleanliness and appearance
- Work collaboratively with management Team on overall brewing strategy, direction and vision
Key Activities:
- Own and direct all activities related to product management in the brew house
- Support cellar activities and tasks as prescribed and required to meet Production timelines
- Partner with Management Team on recipe development
- Coordinate and finalize finished product packaging specificsĀ
- Own,coordinate,and manage (i.e., with distribution as needed) pre through post-canning and kegging per agreed upon specifications
- Manage current status and coordinate repair (when necessary) on all brew house and cellar equipment
- Receive incoming inventory and items, organize as necessary and communicate receipts with Management Team
- Manage organization and cleanliness within the brewing area including ownership and delegation of required tasks
- Strict adherence to production and safety SOPs
- Keep an open line of communication with fellow Team Members and appropriate management at all times
- Document updates electronically for specific products where activities and tasks were completed
- Document all deviations from defined tactical execution plans electronically to ensure production history is appropriately captured
- Complete critical support tasks as required to ensure schedule and production timelines are met
- Complete activities identified, populate data and share with the Management team daily upon shift completion
- Partner with Team Members on successful production execution
Successful candidates will also possess:
- Minimum two years of commercial brewing experience on a 5bbl system or larger
- Comfort working in a start-up and rapidly changing environment
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail
- Willingness to assist with tasks outside key responsibilities
- Communicate efficiently with team
Candidates must be able to:
- Lift 55 lbs and move 165 lbs occasionally
- Stand for 8-10 hours per day
- Operate complex and delicate machinery
- Work in a non-temperature controlled environment
- Handling of hazardous materials
