Position: Production Assistant

Location: Marina Bay, Quincy, MA

Start Date: Flexible

Job Type: Full-time salaried position

Pay Rate: $37,440 - $47,840 / year, depending on experience

Education: High school or equivalent

Break Rock Brewing Co. opened to the public on March 3, 2022. Since opening, we have focused on delivering outstanding products in a beautiful and unique waterfront setting. We are growing and are actively seeking the right candidate to serve as our Production Assistant.

Applicants do not need any prior experience but must be reliable, possess a strong work ethnic, and a willingness to learn a trade/skills while respecting SOPs and safety. This individual will report directly to our Head Brewer, Vilija Bizinkauskas under whom they will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced brewer and current President of the Master Brewers Association of America - New England Chapter.

The Production Assistant will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks touching all facets of production. This may include inventory, intake, prep, brewing/wort production, transfers, packaging, cleaning, delivery, and maintenance. This is a fantastic learning opportunity for an experienced production employee or someone who would like to enter the field. There will be room to grow in this position as our company grows. As part of a small team, your ideas and opinions will be respected and heard.

Employee will also have the opportunity to work taproom shifts and offsite events for additional compensation.

Responsibilities

● Admin Responsibilities:

○ Help manage daily brewery operations

○ Attend trade association meetings, presentations, and conventions when necessary/as needed

○ Help brainstorm new ideas and techniques as a team

○ Stay up to speed on the beer industry and beer trends

○ Follow record-keeping and quality control procedures throughout beer production process

○ Consistently maintain accurate inventory to include raw ingredients, packaging materials; perform monthly and quarterly audits

○ On/Off Site Event assistance as needed

○ Taproom shifts as desired

● Production Responsibilities:

○ Help ensure cleanliness of brewery

○ Clean and inventory kegs

○ CIP/SIP of brewhouse, fermenters and brite tanks

○ Assisting with brewhouse operations including wort production as needed

○ Operation and cleaning/sanitizing of packaging equipment

○ Assisting with cellaring tasks including dry hopping, fruiting, etc.

○ Perform preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment as needed

○ Draft line cleaning and maintenance

○ Assist with warehousing, including receiving shipments and inventorying materials

○ Weekly delivery of product to ordering accounts utilizing company vehicle

Requirements

● 21 or older

● Ability to lift and move at least 55 lbs and perform repetitive motions, included but not limited to bend, squat, crawl, push, pull, etc

● Ability to work in hot, cold, wet environment

● Ability to climb stairs, use a ladder at 10 feet and above

● Must be able to stand, walk for long periods of time

● Previous experience not required - we will train you!

● Strong work ethic and reliability, selt motivated

● Familiarity with microsoft suite, and google products (sheets, docs)

● Available to work early mornings, nights and weekends

● Good organizational and communication skills with the ability to both receive feedback and offer ideas

● Mechanical aptitude a plus, but not required

● A passion for beer or openness to learn all about beer
