We are now recruiting for a Distribution Centre Manager to join us at our Mansfield Depot. Reporting directly into the Regional Logistics Manager, it should be clear that this role is not about consolidation, it is about change and development to meet future challenges. The site forms a key hub within the network and acts as a national distribution centre for all Wines, Spirits and Consumables to a network of 11 other distribution points as well as servicing a local fleet of delivery vehicles covering the East of the UK. The Distribution Centre Manager will understand the demands of operating a complex warehousing/distribution facility and will play an integral part in instilling a high-performance culture, ensuring our depot is running smoothly and able to deliver on promises to our customers!

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsibility for complex warehouse and logistics process covering incoming goods planning and receipt, warehousing, pick, pack and distribution.
  • To align process capabilities with the needs of the business and control operating costs in line with set budgets across both warehousing and distribution.
  • Ensure that the organisational structure of the site meets the needs of the business and its customers and supports continual improvements.
  • Develop warehouse design and WMS processes to improve product flow and accuracy.
  • Engage and liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Develop teams and individuals through succession planning and performance management.
  • Increase flexibility, responsiveness and quality of output to deliver sustained improvements in service and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure full compliance of operating policies and procedures on site
  • Responsibility for ensuring the site is legally compliant with its Goods Vehicle Operator Licence
  • Manage the site within Logistics KPI’s established by our customers 

Hours

You’ll be working 40 hours per week on a schedule of Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm. You may also need to be flexible around these hours to suit the needs of the business. Bank holidays are treated as normal working days, however you will receive these back in lieu to use throughout the year.

Experience and Key Attributes required:

  • The successful candidate will be an experienced professional in warehousing/distribution.
  • Will be able to demonstrate where and how you have driven change initiatives that have impacted upon costs, quality and improved customer service.
  • Will have previous experience of fast paced FMCG multi-drop operations.
  • Will have demonstrable experience of improving and developing teams and operational processes.
  • Will have prior experience of working with and developing WMS systems and preferably knowledge of SAP operating systems.
  • Will have strong numerical and literacy skills.
  • Be prepared to work in a fast paced environment.
  • A team player, flexible but capable of working individually to create new ways of working.
  • Thrives on ownership, action orientated, and results driven.
  • Preferably holds the Transport Manager National Certificate of Professional Competence.
  • Preferably holds a NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH qualification in H&S.
