Job description

Since 2011, Market Garden Brewery has brought bold, award-winning beers to the beautiful Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio.  Our Brewpub & Restaurant features a creative, chef-driven food menu that changes with the seasonality of organic and local ingredients.  In 2016, we expanded into a 35,000 square-foot production brewery which houses our 35-barrel brewhouse. The facility is equipped with 2,200 barrels of fermentation capacity, analytical, microbiological, and sensory laboratories, a temperature-controlled barrel aging cellar, and state-of-the-art canning and kegging lines. Located behind the West Side Market, under the giant BEER! sign, here we brew our beer & cider, and offer fun beer-fueled Brewery Tours.

The Packing Operator will be responsible for maintaining and operating our canning line equipment here at our production brewery.  We have recently expanded and upgraded our canning line and are now running full depalletizing and shrink sleeving in-house.  We are seeking an experienced self-starter who takes pride in their work and has experience in preventative maintenance and implementation of new production lines. Must work in clean, neat, and safe manner while following GMP’s and SOP’s. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to accommodate a quick paced environment.

Responsibilities Include:

-         Leading a canning line team in a single shift environment. Create a collaborative and fun work environment while developing talent and divisions of responsibility within our packaging hall.

-         Ongoing Maintenance and preventative maintenance on canning line equipment.

-         Setup, CIP, operation, and shut down of all canning related machinery including filler/seamer, packoff, depal, shrink sleeving, rinser.

-         Attention to calibration and continuous monitoring and testing to ensure equipment remains within specifications and setpoints.

-         Troubleshoot control circuits, motors, equipment, and other electrical and electronic systems & equipment

-         Communicate regularly with QC, supervisors, and machine operators.

-         Participate and/or conduct safety training as scheduled.

-         Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.

-         Proactive in addressing unsafe conditions and confronting unsafe behaviors in the facility.

-         Prepares and maintains records and reports; completes work orders for all activities and records spare parts used.

-         Willing to work overtime and weekends as may arise due to production or seasonality.

Proven experience and skills in:

-         1+ year in food or beverage manufacturing

-         1+ year in packaging facility

-         Exceptional work ethic, integrity, and punctuality

-         Performing equipment inspections

-         Basic maintenance skills, Production and Facilities Equipment

-         Some Knowledge of HCCP, USDA regulations and Good Manufacturing (GMPs)

-         Commitment to establishing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, and crouching. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls. Lifting and moving of objects weighing at least 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be evaluated and considered to enable an individual to perform the essential job functions.
