Head Brewer

Job Description

The Red White and Brew Beer Company is looking for a head brewer to join our team. This position will report directly to ownership and work closely with other staff. We are a small microbrewery just over 2 years old. We have a facility in a classic downtown bank with a 3 barrel brewhouse, taproom, outdoor beer garden, and plenty of room to expand. We are currently trying to build distribution to local bars and restaurants. Our tap list includes traditional German styles, lagers, IPAs, stouts, and sours. We have 5 standard brews and 7 rotating taps.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and perform all brewery processes including wort production, cellar work, packaging, cleaning, and yeast management
• Record detailed and consistent brew logs
• Design best in class recipes and formulas that appeal to our existing and targeted customer base
• Manage and maintain inventory and ordering for brewery
• Create/maintain SOPs for all brewery processes
• Manage sales and operations planning process
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge
• Understand all safety regulations
• Participate in weekly meetings with management/ownership
• Handle routine maintenance of brewery equipment
• Maintain clean, neat and organized brewhouse and related areas
• Potentially make deliveries, attend festivals, or assist with the taproom as needed
• Be knowledgeable about our beers and brewery history

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Mechanical inclination and knowledge of fluid dynamics is preferred
• Able to lift 80 pounds
• Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for up to 12 hours a day
• Weekends, Holidays and Evenings as required
• Able to effectively work individually or in a team environment
• Be a self-starter and work well with little supervision
• Passion, enthusiasm, focus, creativity, and a positive outlook
• Candidate must be able to work a minimum of 32 hours per week
• Minimum 2 years operations experience in the brewing industry
• Ability to think outside the box - use creative thinking and problem-solve

Compensation

• $40k - $50k salary - Commensurate with experience
• Profit Sharing based on annual company performance
